Background of the study:
Intergenerational height variation is a well-recognized indicator of nutritional, environmental, and genetic influences across generations. In Iwo, Osun State, contrasting lifestyles between rural and urban families provide a unique context to study these variations. Recent research has suggested that urban populations often exhibit taller statures due to improved nutrition and healthcare, while rural families may experience stunted growth due to limited resources (Akinyemi, 2023). Environmental factors such as living conditions, dietary diversity, and access to medical care are significant determinants of height variation. Genetic predisposition also plays an integral role in determining adult stature. Studies conducted in similar contexts have documented the influence of socioeconomic status and living environments on intergenerational height trends (Oluwaseun, 2024). This research aims to evaluate the height differences between generations in rural versus urban families within Iwo, exploring how lifestyle, nutrition, and genetic factors converge to influence growth patterns. The findings may contribute to policy measures aimed at reducing nutritional and health disparities.
Statement of the problem:
There is limited data on intergenerational height variations between rural and urban families in Iwo, hindering efforts to understand the underlying causes of growth disparities. This study seeks to evaluate these variations and identify contributing factors, addressing a significant gap in public health research and informing targeted nutritional and healthcare interventions.

Research Hypotheses:
Significance of the study:
This study is significant as it sheds light on the impact of environmental and nutritional factors on intergenerational height variation, providing critical insights for public health strategies aimed at reducing disparities in Iwo (Akinyemi, 2023).
Scope and limitations of the study:
The study is limited to comparing intergenerational height variations among rural and urban families in Iwo Local Government Area. It does not account for genetic factors beyond those inferred from familial trends.
